Social Care Services in West Lothian are provided through the Social Policy Service, which is integrated within the Health & Care Partnership.

The service was recently inspected and the Inspection Agency report gave a very positive account of the social work services provided by West Lothian social policy. This is reflected in the evaluations, which include one 'excellent' grade and six 'very good' grades. No area of evaluation was found to be functioning below a 'good' standard. When the inspection was carried out, most clients were assessed as receiving very good services. Some service provision was excellent - notably the application of assistive technology and associated care at home services. These results reflected good performance in relation to key processes, such as access to services, allocation of work and assessment of need. Multi-disciplinary working was also assessed as being particularly strong throughout the social policy service.

Information on Social Care

When it first started it's work, the Scottish Government's Joint Improvement Team realeased a Social Care Statistical Profile to inform the performance review process. These statistics yhave not been updated but can be accessed from the right hand menu and viewed here in an Atlas report: Latest Comparitive Statistical Data in an Atlas Report.

A range of data are now available on social care both through the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics site and through the Social Work Scotland site. This, more comprehensive site, has replaced the Care Scotland Website set up to provide staff with access to comparable stats about each local authority in Scotland.

The figures in the DATABANK have not been updated recently (as content is being reviewed) but can be mapped.

The longer term objective is to extend this dataset to include other, relevant data.
